Rudra Jayanta Bhagawati and Pranaame Bhagawati is the celebrated dance duo and choreographers of northeast India. This dancing soulmate has encompassed several remarkable choreographies and dance production on the world platform, familiarising concepts related to northeast India and specifically Assam. Their artistic works are well appreciated in places like Germany, USA, UK, Dubai, Tanzania, Maldives, Qatar, Guyana, etc.

 

This power couple has been committedly and diligently working for the promotion, preservation and preaching of arts, culture and heritage whilst spreading peace, love and humanity. Their vision and work folio strives towards the betterment of society and traditions at large, amalgamating with contemporary times and globalisation. Rudra Jayanta and Pranaame Bhagawati are the empaneled artistes of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India. The couple has to their credit various initiatives successfully accomplished for international diaspora and lifestyle wellness.

PRANAAME BHAGAWATI

Founder & Artistic Director

Pranaame Bhagawati is an internationally toured Indian classical danseuse, choreographer, author and cultural activist. She founded the AMRAPALI (Society for ARTS) for the propagation of traditional culture, international exchanges and cultural sustainability. She is a creative genius and a visionary. She also initiated the Amrapali Magazine www.amrapalimagazine.online and successfully manages as its Editor-in-Chief. Former Regional Officer at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) - Guwahati Regional Office under the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, Pranaame proved herself to be a diligent, enthusiastic and proactive cultural administrator during her work tenure. Besides being a professional danseuse - choreographer and been doing remarkably well in her dance, she is also a Masters in Mass Communications from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar (Haryana).

 

 

Pranaame Bhagawati authored two books upon dance 'Kathak Dance for School Students' and 'The Art of Dancing' both of which are available as Paperback as well as e-book. Pranaame brought laurels to her State Assam by winning the Gold Medal twice in Kathak dance at the national level for festivals organised by the Sports Authority, Women and Child Welfare Department and Govt. of India. She choreographed some magnificent dance ballads and short choreographies for the stage, videos and fields like Dance Through Ages, The 12 Dancing Princesses, Om, Ringa Ringa Monn, etc.

RUDRA JAYANTA BHAGAWATI

Rudra Jayanta Bhagawati hails from the heritage island named Majuli situated in the midst of the massive Brahmaputra River. He started his initial training in Sattriya dance from Notun Kamalabari Sattra in Kamalabari, Majuli. Further, he availed the prestigious Scholarship from the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Assam to learn Kathak dance from the Bhatkhande Music College in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his Nritya Nipun course from Bhatkhande Music College. He is a graduate in Arts stream from the Dibrugarh University in Dibrugarh, Assam. Going deeper with his dance training, Rudra Jayanta Bhagawati availed Fellowship from the sought after Kathak institution in New Delhi namely the Kathak Kendra as a Ballad-cum-Staff under the able guidance of Kathak maestro Pt. Birju Maharaj. Also, later he undertook lessons as in Guru Sishya Parampara personally from the maestro. 

Rudra Jayanta Bhagawati is a free-spirited dance practitioner who does not believe in conventional approaches that would certainly hinder the lay people from appreciating the art as well as developing an interest in learning it. He has some remarkable dance productions to his credit like the Bihu Bareboroniya, Kaziranga, Brahmaputra, Shiv Sati, Maa Shakti, Buddha and many more. His dance executions are patterned with a contemporary approach that lingers into the minds of the spectators knowing the genius element that resides within every art without being confined within a geographical area.
